We have both sets of parentals coming over later this year for holiday, and want to take them out to the theatre (well, technically only Matt's as they're sticking around longer). But there's always so much going on in London that I can't decide what they should go see.

Last two times Matt's folks were here, they saw 'Kiss Me Kate', and 'We Will Rock You', so I'm thinking along the lines of lighter theatrical entertainment compared to something Shakespearean or like 'War Horse' or opera.

So help me out - vote in the poll! Or make a suggestion!

Most parentals like Abba, don't they? ;) Mine do!

Scarily they do! And our high school chaplain use to try and indoctrinate us into ABBA by playing all his records whenever we were invited over to his and his wife's (who was our Boarding School headmistress!) place. *blocks ears*

I'm thinking they probably would love 'Mamma Mia!'. 'Priscilla' was also a front-runner as it uses some of the songs of that era, and for it's Ockerness!

I kind of like Abba because my parents used to play it in the car on long road trips and it was either learn to like it or go crazy! I chose to learn to like it ;)

LOL, yes you really had no choice! I can probably sing the chorus verses of most of the ABBA songs.

Although a mate and I once got up to sing 'Money, Money Money' on karaoke and totally failed! We figured out that we never properly knew the rest of the lyrics! Soooo embarrassing.

HA! I hate that! That's why I generally don't sing karoake as well..I hate getting up there and then realizing you only actually know the chorus to the song, so the rest of it is kind of a combination of awkward pauses (while you're thinking - fuck? those are really the words??) and some mumbling while you sing what you think are the words! Hee. Much prefer car singing as the car never cares if you get the words wrong! :)

That's it exactly! Awkward pauses, strangled mumbling, and a deer-in-headlights look as everyone stares at you (with laughing and finger pointing iminent!) I think the only thing I've been able to karaoke is 'Day-o', and that's mainly as a back-up singer to my brother, who used to love getting up to do that one!

Acoustically, car singing has got to be the best venue for unselfconscious warbling! Preferably when the windows are closed and the car is on the move. Strange looks from the driver in the other lane can be offputting! XD
